What is the minimum age to rent a car?

The minimum rental age depends on the vehicle category. In general, renters and drivers must be at least 20 years old. Some larger vehicles, large SUVs, or passenger vehicles may require the driver to be at least 23 years old. Always check the requirements for the specific vehicle before booking.

Yes. You need to bring a physical driving license when you pick up the car. Digital driving licenses are not accepted for pickup verification.

We accept valid driving licenses that meet our rental requirements. The license must be readable in the Roman alphabet. If your license is written in another script, such as Arabic, Chinese, Cyrillic, or another non-Roman alphabet, you also need an International Driving Permit.

You need an International Driving Permit if your driving license is not written in the Roman alphabet. Bring both your original driving license and the International Driving Permit when you pick up the car.

No. Reykjavik Rent a Car does not require a deposit. You still need to provide a valid payment card when booking or picking up the car.

We accept major credit cards and debit cards with a 15 or 16 digit card number and CVC. The card must be valid and available for charges related to the rental agreement.

Choose your rental car based on your route, season, passengers, and luggage. A small rental car is good for Reykjavik and paved day trips. Medium cars give more room and flexibility.
